# Suspend BitLocker

The **Suspend BitLocker** step definition will temporarily suspend all the BitLocker protectors currently in place for the OS volume. They will be automatically reeanbled after the specified number of reboots.

This is useful in situations where the OS is being refreshed (e.g. Windows PE needs access to the boot volume) or in situations where BitLocker might otherwise trigger a recovery process (e.g. firmware updates).
