# Configuring PXE booting

To start the bare metal installation of Windows or Linux OSes on devices, it is useful to be able to initiate the process using the Preboot Execution Environment (PXE), a network boot process. There are multiple options for implementing this:

* Use the 2Pint 2PXE server.
* Use the 2PXE 2PXE server in combination with the iPXE Anywhere Web Service.
* Use Windows Deployment Services or other third-party PXE servers.
